- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake hoses on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: brake hose – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk IV (G) Estate. Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 4Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: brake hose – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk IV (G) Estate. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Clean the area where the brake hose is connected to the brake caliper and to the brake circuit pipe. Use a wire brush.
- Step 8Remove the fastener attaching the brake hose to the shock strut. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 9Detach the brake hose from the shock strut.
- Step 10Put a container for gathering brake fluid beneath.
- Step 11Unscrew the fastener connecting the brake hose to the brake circuit pipe. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 12Unscrew the brake hose from the brake caliper. Use a drive socket #11. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Install the sealing ring on the new brake hose.
- Step 14Clean dirt from the brake hose bolt. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: brake hose – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk IV (G) Estate. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 15Tighten the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake caliper. Use a drive socket #11. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
- Step 16Clean the brake hose mounting seat on the brake circuit pipe. Use a brake cleaner.Replacement: brake hose – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk IV (G) Estate. Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 17Screw the brake hose onto the brake circuit pipe. Use a combination spanner #10. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 16 Nm torque.
- Step 18Clean the area where the brake hose is connected to the brake caliper and to the brake circuit pipe. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: brake hose – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk IV (G) Estate. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 19Fasten the brake hose on the strut.
