Replacement: ABS sensor – VW NEW BEETLE Convertible (1Y7). Tip from AUTODOC:
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ABS sensor – VW NEW BEETLE Convertible (1Y7). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW NEW BEETLE Convertible (1Y7) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Detach the ABS sensor connector. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 8
Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 9
Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Remove the caps from the brake caliper guide pin boots. Use a crowbar. - Step 11
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench. - Step 12
Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar. - Step 13
Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: ABS sensor – VW NEW BEETLE Convertible (1Y7). Professionals recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary. - Step 14
Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 15
Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 16
Remove the brake disc. - Step 17
Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar. - Step 18
Clean the ABS sensor mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 19
Treat the ABS sensor fastener. Use a multipurpose grease. - Step 20
Connect the ABS sensor.
