Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW BORA. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Use only new O-rings during installation.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW BORA. Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 4Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW BORA. AUTODOC recommends:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.Step 5Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 6Remove the oil pan cover.
- Step 7Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 8Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 9Unscrew the drain plug. Use a combination spanner #19.
- Step 10Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW BORA. Tip from AUTODOC:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 11Clean the oil filter seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 12Prepare a container for the old oil filter.Step 13Unscrew the oil filter. Use the 76-14F socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Put the old oil filter in the container.Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW BORA. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
- Step 15Clean the oil filter seat.
- Step 16Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
- Step 17Screw the new filter into its place. Use the 76-14F socket. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 18 Nm torque.Replacement: engine oil and filter – VW BORA. Professionals recommend:Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 18Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.
