- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – LEXUS RX (MCU15). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 4Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – LEXUS RX (MCU15). AUTODOC experts recommend:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.Step 5Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 6Remove the oil pan cover.
- Step 7Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 8Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 9Unscrew the drain plug. Use a combination spanner #14. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – LEXUS RX (MCU15). Tip from AUTODOC:Caution! The oil may be hot.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 11Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
- Step 12Unscrew the oil filter. Use the 76-14F socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Put the old oil filter in the container.Replacement: engine oil and filter – LEXUS RX (MCU15). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.Step 14Clean the oil filter seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 15Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
- Step 16Screw the new filter into its place. Use the 76-14F socket. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 23 Nm torque.
- Step 17Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 18Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 27 Nm torque.
- Step 19Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
