When your KIA SORENTO I (JC) won’t start after a front-end accident (with damage to the bumper and bonnet), several issues could be causing this problem:

    1. Inertia (Fuel Cut-off) Switch:
    - Many vehicles have an inertia or fuel cut-off switch that triggers in a collision to prevent fuel from leaking and reduce fire risk. After an accident, this switch can cut power to the fuel pump, stopping the engine from starting.
    - On some Sorento models, you might need to manually reset this switch. Check your owner’s manual for the location, or look for a reset button near the passenger footwell or behind a kick panel. Some users on Kia forums have discussed this as a cause of post-accident no-start problems.

    2. Damaged Sensors or Wiring:
    - The impact may have damaged vital sensors (such as the crankshaft position sensor) or wiring harnesses around the engine bay, which can prevent starting.

    3. Fuses and Relays:
    - Check the fuse box under the hood for any blown fuses, especially those related to the starter, fuel pump, or ECM/PCM (engine control module).
    - Inspect starter relays and swap with a similar relay if needed to rule out a bad relay.

    4. Immobilizer/Anti-theft System:
    - Sometimes an accident can trigger the vehicle’s anti-theft system, immobilizing the engine. Look out for flashing security lights on the dashboard.

    What to do:
    - Check and reset the inertia switch if your model has one.
    - Inspect relevant fuses and relays in the engine bay and replace any that are blown.
    - Check for visible wiring damage in the area of impact.
    - If the car cranks but doesn’t start, listen for the fuel pump prime (a humming sound from the back when the ignition is turned on).
    - If unsure, a diagnostic scan for fault codes can quickly pinpoint the issue if basic checks don’t resolve it.

If you’re not comfortable performing these checks, it may be best to have a professional mechanic inspect the vehicle, as accident damage can also affect critical wiring or sensors.
