Hey folks, I’m eyeing up a Porsche Macan but heard some years might be dodgy. Can anyone shed some light on which models to steer clear of? I’m particularly interested in reliability issues or any common faults. Any advice would be fab before I part with my hard-earned cash! Cheers!

When shopping for a Porsche Macan, it's best to avoid early model years (2014-2016) as they are more likely to suffer from water pump, oil consumption, and electrical issues. In general, later models (2017-2023) are considered more reliable, but it's still important to check the service history and avoid engines with scuffs.
    Models to Avoid:
    2014-2016:
These models are often plagued by the following issues:
Water Pump Issues: Many owners replaced the water pump every 30,000-50,000 miles.
Oil Consumption: Some Macans consume more oil than they should.
Electrical Issues: Infotainment and power windows may be affected. Models with 3.0L V6 (340 hp) turbocharged engine:
There is a risk of cylinder scuffing, especially with poor quality fuel, aggressive driving when cold and long intervals between oil changes.
    Recommendations:
    Later models (2017-2023):
    Generally considered more reliable.
    2.0L turbocharged engine:
Considered more reliable than the 3.0L V6.
    Careful service history check:
It is especially important to check the service history for water pump replacement, oil consumption and electrical problems.
    Engine diagnostics:
It is recommended to have the engine diagnosed for scuffing before purchasing.
    General recommendations for all Macans:
Avoid aggressive driving when the engine is cold.
    Use quality fuel.
Maintain oil change intervals. Check the condition of the hatch drains, as there have been problems with them becoming clogged.
