To change the fog lights on a BMW 640i (E63/E64 6 Series), here is a straightforward guide based on common procedures:

1. Access the fog light housing: You usually don’t have to remove the entire bumper. Instead, turn the steering wheel fully towards the side you’re working on to get better access through the wheel arch.

2. Remove the wheel arch liner or part of it: There are plastic clips and screws holding the wheel arch liner that need to be removed or loosened to reach the back of the fog light housing.

3. Locate the fog light bulb cover: Behind the fog light, there is usually a round or oval plastic cap that protects the bulb inside. Twist or unclip this cover to expose the bulb.

4. Unclip and disconnect the bulb: There should be a clip or connector that holds the bulb in place. Carefully unclip and disconnect the wiring.

5. Remove the old bulb by twisting it counterclockwise and pull it out gently.

6. Install the new bulb without touching the glass part with your fingers (use gloves or clean cloth).

7. Reconnect the electrical connector, secure the bulb in place by twisting clockwise, and replace the plastic cover.

8. Reinstall the wheel arch liner and any screws or clips you removed and test the new fog lights.
