Experiencing Wear on Drive Shaft Joint Constant Velocity Boot? SUBARU Outback V (BS) (10.2014 - ...)
- @Graziana Venturi08.04.2025 12:35@WILSON78AUTODOC expertHi! Yes, wear of the CV joint boot on a Subaru Outback is not uncommon.
Possible causes:
- Natural wear (usually after 100-150 thousand km).
- Damage from road debris or corrosion.
- Dirt getting in due to a boot rupture.
- Low-quality boot material.
Solution:
- Replace the boot + grease - if the joint is still in good condition.
- Replace the entire drive - if there is knocking/crunching when turning (CV joint wear).
- Check the mounts and suspension - play can accelerate wear.
It is better not to tighten - if the grease leaks, the joint will quickly fail.
Hey everyone! I’ve noticed some wear on the constant velocity (CV) boot on my 2015 Subaru Outback’s drive shaft joint. It seems to be cracking and maybe even leaking a bit. Has anyone else experienced this? What are the potential causes or solutions? Thanks!
