Is it necessary to drain the coolant, before changing/cleaning the EGR valve?

On my car I drained the coolant before replacing the EGR. I think your car will need to be drained as well.

      OK. THX.
I hope I didn’t do something super stupid.
I untightened the EGR valve without draining it (following the instructions from the Autodoc 🙁 ) and some of the coolant came out. I hope it didn’t get inside the motor. Would it be a huge problem if coolant entered in?
Anyone has any experience on that?
I am scared to start the car, so I don’t make any major damage.

Yes, if antifreeze gets into the engine, this can be a problem and can lead to engine failure. I’ve never encountered anything like this and can’t really give you any sufficient advice.

      Thank you.
Anyone else have some knowledge of this kind of problem?
How could I check if there is coolant further down the pipes? Where does it go? What is the next component?
