Has anyone tried to clean or replace the EGR? I recently had my DPF filter cleaned after discovering that it was 60% clogged. The cleaning resolved that issue, but now my mechanic has informed me that the diagnostic report shows an error, specifically P0490 Exhaust Gas Recirculation ‘A’ Control Circuit High. This could indicate a clogged EGR or a loose wire. I’m wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue and if so, what was the solution?

Hello, yes you probably need to clean the EGR, it all depends on the mileage of the car and when the last time was cleaned. In general, the procedure is not easy, but it should solve your problem.

Ookay thank you, I have checked out several videos on this and having the right tools for the job is important,  specifically what tools would I need?

Once I bought a good set of tools and I must say that in most cases it is enough for me. This set https://www.autodoc.co.uk/yato/13649119?search=YATO+Socket+set+%28YT-38841%29
In fact the set has already helped me out many times, and I don’t have to think much. When you have problem, it will do the job.

I bought the correct EGR (Denso type) on line and replaced the EGR myself, 1 hour, very easy to do
