Replacement: shock absorbers – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Loosen the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #E20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 9Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #E20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 11Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 13Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 14Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: shock absorbers – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop. Tip:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 15Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.AUTODOC recommends:VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts.
- Step 16Install the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
