Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. AUTODOC experts recommend:

Replace the brake disks on the car CITROËN C4 Saloon L in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Step 2

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 3

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 4

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 5

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. CITROËN C4 Saloon L
Step 6

Remove the wheel.
Step 7

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Release the parking brake cable. Use water pump pliers. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 9

Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 11

Remove the brake caliper.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 12

Remove the brake pads.
Step 13

Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14

Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use Torx T50. Use a tap wrench.
Step 15

Remove the caliper bracket.
Step 16

Clean the hub bearing protection cap. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 17

Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. AUTODOC recommends:
Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps.
Step 18

Unstake the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 19

Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 20

Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #32. Use a tap wrench.
Step 21

Remove the brake disc assemled with the wheel hub bearing. Use the hub slide hammer puller.
Step 22

Clean the surface around the ABS tone ring. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 23

Remove the ABS tone ring. Use a crowbar.
Step 24

Install the ABS tone ring.
Step 25

Clean the stub axle. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 26

Install the brake disc assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
Step 27

Tighten the hub. Use a drive socket #32. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 280 nm torque.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. Tip from AUTODOC:
The wheel bearing unit must not tilt on the axle pin.
Step 28

Restake the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 29

Install the hub bearing protection cap. Use a rubber mallet.
Step 30

Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 31

Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 32

Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use Torx T50. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 53 Nm torque.
Step 33

Treat the brake caliper piston. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. AUTODOC experts recommend:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 34

Press in the brake caliper piston. Use brake caliper wind back tool.
Step 35

Install the brake pads.
Step 36

Install the brake caliper and fix it. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
Step 37

Install the parking brake cable into the brake caliper bracket. Use water pump pliers. Use pliers.
Step 38

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 39

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. Tip:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 40

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. CITROËN C4 Saloon L
Step 41

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 42

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 100 Nm torque.
Step 43

Remove the jacks and chocks.

Replacement: brake discs – CITROËN C4 Saloon L. Professionals recommend:
Check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank and refill if necessary.
Step 44

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap. Close the hood.

AUTODOC recommends:
CITROËN C4 Saloon L – Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until it feels firm.
