Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 9
Clean the fasteners connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench. - Step 11Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.Step 12
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench. - Step 13
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 14Remove the front fastener of the control arm.Step 15
Remove the arm. Use a crowbar. - Step 16
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 17
Install a new arm. Use a rubber mallet.Replacement: front lower arm – VAUXHALL ASTRA Mk V (H) TwinTop. Professionals recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 18Install the front fastener of the arm.Step 19
Install the rear fastener of the control arm.
