Problem with my stat sunroof. Was open ok but is struck. Any expert garage in England? Â Thanks
- @OD2306.11.2025 17:02MemberMan, I had similar trouble with my B-Class sunroof, it got stuck halfway open after a rainy day. Found a guy through a friend who knew a bit about Mercs, fixed it after checking the rails for debris and resetting the motor. If you donât want to try DIY, best to ask neighbours or friends for a trusted mechanic. With Mercs, not every garage knows the right way to handle that sunroof mechanism â those cables can snap if forced.
- @Charlie đ«07.11.2025 09:43MemberHad my B180 sunroof jam before, was electrical fault, not mechanical. Friend recommended checking fuse box first, swapped a fuse myself, good as new. No fancy garage needed, just patience and YouTube. But if youâre nervous about it, see if someone locally had a similar fix, don't rush to big garages unless it's proper broken.
- @joshua_clark07.11.2025 09:57MemberI had bad luck with a couple garages who wanted to change the whole sunroof unit for a minor glitch. Ended up finding a bloke recommended by my mate, cost half the price. Always worth to ask local Merc owners or car clubs, sometimes itâs just a track needs cleaning or a sensor reset. Don't settle for first estimate, especially with Merc electronics!
- @tea.lover200007.11.2025 10:04MemberFor my B-Class, sunroof didnât close in winter, tried the old âhold button for 10 secâ reset trick, surprisingly worked. If it's stuck, give that a go before panicking, mate! Had a neighbour who sprayed some silicone lube on the rails, she swears it's a lifesaver. Only go to a Merc specialist if DIY fails.
- @leo3__107.11.2025 13:16MemberIf itâs just stuck, sometimes you can manually close it with the emergency key in the overhead panel. Buddyâs B200 did that once, saved him from a soaking. Merc electronics can be temperamental, so donât force it. Ask around for someone with Merc experience, or local car groups â garages charge loads for basic stuff.
- @book_worm đ07.11.2025 13:24MemberMy cousinâs B-Class had a stuck sunroof after a weekend trip, he got help from a local lad with decent reviews, didn't go for dealers cause way too pricey. Always double check for leaf debris and make sure tracks are clear first. DIY steps sometimes do the trick, saves you money and time.
- @I.evans07.11.2025 15:16MemberYou can try disconnecting your battery for a minute and reconnect, it might reset the sunroof glitch. Did that on my B-Class after advice from a mate, worked wonders. Just be sure youâve got your stereo codes handy before you try!
- @fish-chips07.11.2025 15:48MemberI had a jammed sunroof, was a sensor sticky from all the UK rain. Found a recommended local guy who sorted it with a proper clean, didnât need to replace a thing. Ask people around in your area â local knowledge goes a long way and saves you a fortune.
- @L.đđđ07.11.2025 16:04MemberHad a bad experience with my Merc at a generic garage, they made it worse. Best bet is someone familiar with Mercedes quirks. My neighbourâs nephew is into Mercedes, fixed mine after poking around in the wiring. Dealers are too expensive for simple repairs â ask around for indie specialists.
- @Harry7707.11.2025 16:22MemberSunroof issues on B-Class often electrical, mate had his sorted by someone referred by a fellow Merc owner. Try finding someone who does Mercs regularly, and donât jump straight to expensive solutions. Double check for a reset â sometimes holding the sunroof button for longer works.
- @Oak3307.11.2025 16:35MemberManual override saved me when my B-Class roof wouldnât budge. Instructions found in owner's manual, super handy. Used my own basic tools, didnât need fancy help. If itâs a big fault, ask around for a Mercedes-experienced mechanic, friends and acquaintances usually know someone.
- @c_harry07.11.2025 16:42MemberHonestly, don't rush to garages unless absolutely necessary. Most sunroof problems are fixable with a little patience and right advice. Check local community groups or ask mates with similar cars, usually find a good helper who wonât charge you an arm and a leg.
