    Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP)
The CKP sensor provides information about the position and rotational speed of the crankshaft, which is critical for the operation of the ignition and fuel injection systems.

    🧭 Location
The crankshaft sensor on Fiat FIRE engines is typically located at the bottom of the engine, near the junction of the cylinder block and gearbox (clutch/flywheel).

Access: Most often, it can be accessed from underneath the vehicle (requiring a lift, pit, or ramp), or, in some cases, from the right side (in the direction of travel) by removing the right front wheel and part of the plastic guard (fender liner).

It reads information from a toothed disk (reference disk) on the flywheel.

🛠️ CKP Sensor Removal and Installation
Access: Gain access to the bottom of the engine (raise the vehicle, remove the engine guard if necessary).

Disconnect the connector: Locate the sensor's electrical connector. Press the retaining clip and carefully disconnect it from the sensor.

Remove the fastener: The sensor is secured with a single bolt (usually 8 mm or 10 mm). Loosen this bolt.

Remove the sensor: Carefully pull the sensor out of its housing. It may be slightly "stuck," so you may need to gently wiggle it. Do not use excessive force.

Install the new CKP sensor: Lubricate the new O-ring with a small amount of clean engine oil (if included).

Insert the new sensor into its housing and tighten the fastening bolt (do not overtighten!).

Connect the connector until it clicks into place.

Inspection: Reinstall all removed components, reconnect the battery, and start the engine.

    ⚙️ Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP)
The CMP sensor informs the ECU of the camshaft position, which is necessary for phased injection (the ECU determines which cylinder is on its compression stroke).

    🧭 Location
The camshaft sensor on the Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 is typically located on the cylinder head.

Specific Location: It is usually located on top of the engine, either near the valve cover or on the end of the cylinder head (on the outside, on the timing belt side).

Access: It is much easier to access than the crankshaft position sensor (CPS). You will likely need to remove the plastic engine cover (if present).

    🛠️ CPS Removal and Installation
Disconnect the connector: Locate the sensor connector (usually a three-pin connector). Press the release tab and disconnect it.

Remove the fastener: Locate one mounting bolt (usually a 10 mm socket).

Remove the sensor: Carefully pull the sensor straight out of the cylinder head. It should come out easily.

Install the new CPS: Install the new sensor, ensuring that its new O-ring is properly seated.

Tighten the bolt (do not overtighten).

Connect the connector until it clicks into place.

❗ Important: After replacing any of these sensors, it is recommended to reset the engine control unit (ECU) using a diagnostic scanner to clear the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

For a more precise location, you may find it helpful to refer to a diagram or video on replacing these sensors on similar Fiat models, such as the Fiat Punto 1.2 or Fiat Panda 1.2, as they use the same engine.

Crank sensor location depends on the car, but common ones:

VW/Audi TDI: driver’s side on bellhousing, one 10mm bolt
Ford Focus MK2: rear of block, passenger side near gearbox
BMW N47 diesel: front of block behind crank pulley

Clean the tip (metal shavings = no start), check resistance 200-1000 Ω.
Drop your exact model/year/engine and I’ll tell you the exact spot! 🔧
