How to change a Rear wheel bearing on FORD MONDEO 3 TUTORIAL | AUTODOC

Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Ford Mondeo BWY car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 7
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the guide pins from the brake caliper.
Step 10
Remove the brake caliper.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. Tip from AUTODOC:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 11
Remove the brake pads. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 12
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 13
Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14
Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
Step 15
Remove the caliper bracket.
Step 16
Remove the brake disc.
Step 17
Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 18
Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 19
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 20
Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. AUTODOC experts recommend:
If necessary, use a rubber mallet.
Step 21
Detach the ABS sensor connector. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 22
Remove the brake disc cover.
Step 23
Install the brake disc cover.
Step 24
Attach the ABS sensor connector.
Step 25
Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
Step 26
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 27
Tighten the hub. Use Torx T50. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 nm torque.
Step 28
Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 29
Install the brake disc.
Step 30
Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 31
Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 32
Install the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
Step 33
Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 34
Install the brake pads.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. Professionals recommend:
If going to use the old brake pads, clean them.
Step 35
Install the brake caliper and fix it.
Step 36
Screw in the guide pins.
Step 37
Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
Step 38
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 39
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo BWY. AUTODOC recommends:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.

Install the wheel.

Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Ford Mondeo BWY
Step 41
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 42
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 nm torque.
Step 43
Remove the jacks and chocks.
