How to change front anti roll bar link / front drop link on VW POLO 4 (9N) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Anti Roll Bar Links for POLO (9N_) and other VW models
Replace the stabiliser links on VW Polo 9N in pairs.
The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Polo 9N. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Polo 9N
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the stabilizer rod. Use a crowbar.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Polo 9N. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Examine stabiliser bushes. Replace them if needed.
Step 10
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Install a new rod, tighten the fasteners. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use Torx T30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.
Step 13
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.
Step 14
Treat all joints of the stabiliser link. Use copper grease.
Step 15
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 16
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW Polo 9N. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 17
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. VW Polo 9N
Step 18
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 19
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 20
Remove the jacks and chocks.
