All the parts you need to replace – Wheel Bearing for City Saloon (GE4) and other HONDA models
Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9 car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
Please note: all work on the car – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.
Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 9
Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 10
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 13
Remove the caliper bracket.
Step 14
Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15
Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 16
Remove the brake disc.
Step 17
Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.
Step 18
Unstake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 19
Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 20
Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
Step 21
Clean the wheel hub mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 22
Install the new wheel hub together with the bearing.
Step 23
Install the fastening nut.
Step 24
Tighten the hub. Use a drive socket #30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 162 Nm torque.
Step 25
Restake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 26
Install the hub bearing protection cap. Use a rubber mallet.
Step 27
Treat the hub where it contacts the brake disk. Use copper grease.
Step 28
Install the brake disc.
Step 29
Tighten the brake disc fastening. Use a Phillips screwdriver. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 10 Nm torque.
Step 30
Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 31
Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 32
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 33
Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 34
Install the brake pads.
Step 35
Install the brake caliper and fix it. Use a drive socket #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 23 Nm torque.
Step 36
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use high-temperature ceramic grease.
Step 37
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 38
Install the wheel.

Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9
Step 39
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 40
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 108 Nm torque.
Step 41
Remove the jacks and chocks.
