How to change rear shock absorber on PEUGEOT 107 1 (PM, PN) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. AUTODOC recommends:

Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Open the boot lid.
Step 2

Remove the clips of the boot side lining. Use a clip removal tool.
Step 3

Unscrew the fastener of the boot side lining. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 4

Detach the boot side lining.
Step 5

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #14 (2 pieces).
Step 6

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 7

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 8

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 9

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 10

Remove the wheel.
Step 11

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 13

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Peugeot 107 PM PN
Step 14

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 15

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 16

Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary. Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 17

Install the mount, the boot and the bump stop on the shock absorber.
Step 18

Treat the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 19

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. Professionals recommend:
To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber cautiously tight when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 20

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 21

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 22

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #14.
Step 23

Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Step 24

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Step 25

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 26

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 27

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 28

Treat the surface where the wheel rim contacts the brake drum. Use copper grease.
Step 29

Install the wheel.

Replacement: shock absorbers – Peugeot 107 PM PN. Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 30

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 31

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 100 nm torque.
Step 32

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #14 (2 pieces). Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 33

Attach the side lining of the boot.
Step 34

Install the clips of the boot side lining.
Step 35

Screw in the fastener of the boot side lining. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 36

Close the lid of the luggage compartment.
Step 37

Remove the jacks and chocks.
