Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
Please note: all work on the car – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the boot lid.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Fold down the backrests of the rear seats.
Step 4
Remove the cover of the boot side lining.
Step 5
Remove the protective cap of the shock absorber mount.
Step 6
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Loosen the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #14. Use a shock absorber socket DD№5,2.
Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). AUTODOC recommends:
Do not completely unscrew the upper fasteners as they may hold also other suspension components.
Step 8
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 9
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 10
Raise the car.
Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). AUTODOC experts recommend:
If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 11
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. OPEL CORSA B Box (73_)
Step 12
Remove the wheel.
Step 13
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 14
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17.
Step 16
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Step 17
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 18
Remove the shock absorber upper mount.
Step 19
Remove the support from under the rear axle beam.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 20
Remove the shock absorber.
Step 21
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.Make sure to follow the assembly steps in the right order.
Step 22
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it.
AUTODOC recommends:
OPEL CORSA B Box (73_) – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 23
Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17.
Step 24
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 25
Install the shock absorber upper mount.
Step 26
Install the fastening bolt.
Step 27
Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Step 28
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 65 Nm torque.
Step 29
Remove the support from under the rear axle beam.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 30
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 31
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 32
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 33
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. OPEL CORSA B Box (73_)
Step 34
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 35
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 36
Remove the jacks and chocks.
Step 37
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #14. Use a shock absorber socket DD№5,2. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20 Nm torque.
Step 38
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 39
Install the protective cap of the shock absorber mount.
Step 40
Install the cover of the boot side lining.
Step 41
Return the seat to its original position.
Step 42
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 43
Close the lid of the luggage compartment.
