How to change rear springs on VW PASSAT B7 Saloon [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

WD-40 spray
Brake cleaner
Copper grease
Torque wrench
Combination spanner #18
Drive socket # 18

Replacement: coil springs – VW Passat B7 saloon. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – VW Passat B7 saloon – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Passat B7 saloon
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 7Clean the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 10Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
- Step 11Remove the spring.
- Step 12Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
- Step 14Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
- Step 16Install the fastening bolt.
