All the parts you need to replace – Springs for Focus II Estate (DA_, FFS, DS) and other FORD models
Replacement: coil springs – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Both coil springs of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the front suspension.
Please note: all work on the car – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_)
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 7
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
AUTODOC recommends:
FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_) – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
Step 9
Clean the fasteners connecting the control arm to the side member. Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 10
Unscrew the stabilizer rod fasteners. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11
Make a mark on the crossmember and on the camber adjustment bolt. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 12
Unscrew the arm fastening to the beam. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a tap wrench.
Step 13
Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 14
Remove the support from under the rear arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 15
Take out the spring. Use a crowbar.
Step 16
Install the spring.
Step 17
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 18
Screw in the fasteners connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 19
Tighten the arm fastening to the beam. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 20
Tighten the fasteners connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 115 Nm torque.
Step 21
Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link.
Step 22
Tighten the stabiliser link fastener. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 15 Nm torque.
Step 23
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 103 Nm torque.
Step 24
Remove the support from under the rear arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 25
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 26
Install the wheel.

Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_)
Step 27
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 28
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 29
Remove the jacks and chocks.
