All the parts you need to replace – Brake Shoes for Corsa B Van (S93) and other OPEL models
Replacement: brake shoes – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Replace brake shoes as a set on an axle. This will ensure efficient braking.
The replacement procedure is identical for brake shoes on the same axle.
Please note: all work on the car – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the car.
Replacement: brake shoes – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip:
If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. OPEL CORSA B Box (73_)
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Remove the wheel hub nut cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
Step 7
Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 8
Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #24. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the wheel bearing washer. Use a crowbar.
Step 10
Remove the wheel hub bearing. Use a crowbar.
Step 11
Remove the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
Replacement: brake shoes – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Examine the brake drum. Replace it if necessary.
Step 12
Clean the fasteners of the brake shoes. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 13
Loosen the brake shoe adjuster. Use a crowbar.
Step 14
Remove the upper return spring of the brake shoes. Use long nose pliers.
Step 15
Remove the hold-down spring. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 16
Remove the retainers of the drum brake shoes. Use a brake shoe retaining spring compressor.
Step 17
Detach the brake shoe from the lower spring.
Step 18
Remove the right brake shoe.
Step 19
Remove the lower return spring of the brake shoes.
Step 20
Disconnect the parking brake cable.
Step 21
Remove the left brake shoe.
Replacement: brake shoes – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Don't press the brake pedal after removing the rear brake drum shoes. This will cause the piston to fall out of the brake cylinder, leakage of brake fluid and depressurization of the system.
Step 22
Clean the mounting seats of the brake shoes. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Replacement: brake shoes – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Make sure to follow the assembly steps in the right order.
Step 23
Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
Step 24
Install a new left brake shoe.
Step 25
Install the lower return spring.
Step 26
Remove the upper spring and the adjuster.
Step 27
Remove the circlip. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 28
Remove the brake shoe adjuster lever.
Step 29
Clean the mounting seat of the bushing. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 30
Remove the bushing. Use water pump pliers.
Step 31
Clean the bushing. Use a wire brush.
Step 32
Install the bushing on a new brake shoe. Use water pump pliers.
Step 33
Install the brake shoe adjuster lever.
Step 34
Install the circlip.
Step 35
Install the upper retaining springs and adjustment mechanism on new brake shoes. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 36
Install a new right brake shoe.
Step 37
Install the lower return spring.
Step 38
Install the retainers of the drum brake shoes. Use a brake shoe retaining spring compressor.
Step 39
Install the hold-down spring.
Step 40
Install the upper return spring. Use long nose pliers.
Step 41
Treat the wheel hub bearing. Use bearing grease.
Step 42
Treat the stub axle. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. Use bearing grease.
Step 43
Readjust the brake shoe adjuster. Use a crowbar.
Step 44
Install the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
Step 45
Fit the wheel bearing washer.
Step 46
Screw on the hub nut. Use a drive socket #24. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 47
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. OPEL CORSA B Box (73_)
Step 48
Spin the wheel to distribute the new grease evenly on the wheel bearings.
Step 49
Adjust the axial clearance by tightening the adjusting nut. Use a drive socket #24. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20-25 Nm torque.

Step 50
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. OPEL CORSA B Box (73_)
Step 51
Remove the wheel.
Step 52
Install a new hub nut cotter pin. Use a crowbar.
Step 53
Install the cap of the hub nut. Use a rubber mallet.
Step 54
Treat the surface where the wheel rim contacts the brake drum. Use ceramic grease.
Step 55
Install the wheel.

Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. OPEL CORSA B Box (73_)
Step 56
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 57
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 58
Remove the jacks and chocks.
Replacement: brake shoes – OPEL CORSA B Box (73_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.Check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank and refill if necessary.
