The procedure for replacing the right and left brake calipers and brackets on the same axle is identical.
All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.

Replacement: brake caliper – VAUXHALL VIVARO Platform/Chassis. Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 3

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 4

Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 5

Raise the vehicle.

Replacement: brake caliper – VAUXHALL VIVARO Platform/Chassis. Tip:
If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 6

Unscrew the wheel fasteners.

Caution!
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners.
Step 7

Remove the wheel.
Step 8

Disconnect the handbrake cable from the parking brake lever on the caliper. Use adjustable pliers. Use a mounting lever.
Step 9

Clean the fastener that connects the brake hose to the brake caliper. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 10

Loosen the fastener that connects the brake hose to the brake caliper. Use a 14 mm combination spanner.
Step 11

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12

Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 15 mm combination spanner. Use a 13 mm combination spanner.
Step 13

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 14

Remove the brake caliper.
Step 15

Disconnect the handbrake cable from the bracket on the caliper. Use long nose pliers.
Step 16

Prepare a fluid drain pan. Attach the brake hose clamp to the brake hose.
Step 17

Unscrew the brake hose from the brake caliper.
Step 18

Clean the fitting on the brake hose that connects the hose to the brake caliper. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 19

Clean the handbrake cable end. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.

Step 20

Screw the brake hose into the new brake caliper. Use a 14 mm combination spanner.

Replacement: brake caliper – VAUXHALL VIVARO Platform/Chassis. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal until the brake pads and calipers have been fully assembled. This could cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore, allowing brake fluid to leak out and air to enter the system.
Step 21

Remove the brake hose clamp from the brake hose.
Step 22

Connect the handbrake cable to the bracket on the brake caliper.
Step 23

Install the new brake caliper.
Step 24

Install and screw in the fastening bolts.
Step 25

Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 13 mm socket. Use a 15 mm combination spanner. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 35 N·m.
Step 26

Connect the handbrake cable to the parking brake lever on the caliper. Use adjustable pliers. Use a mounting lever.
Step 27

Securely tighten the brake hose connection to the brake caliper. Use a 14 mm flare nut socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 14 N·m.
Step 28

Remove the brake bleeder screw cap.
Step 29

Connect the brake bleeder kit to the brake bleeder screw.

Step 30

Loosen the brake bleeder screw. Use an 11 mm combination spanner.
Step 31

Press the brake pedal several times to remove any air from the system.

AUTODOC recommendation:

Step 32

Screw in the brake bleeder screw. Use an 11 mm combination spanner.
Step 33

Disconnect the brake bleeder kit.
Step 34

Clean the brake bleeder screw area. Use a brake cleaner.

Step 35

Tighten the brake bleeder screw. Use an 11 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 9 N·m.
Step 36

Reattach the brake bleeder screw cap.
Step 37

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 38

Treat the brake disc surface that contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 39

Install the wheel.

Replacement: brake caliper – VAUXHALL VIVARO Platform/Chassis. Professionals recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fasteners.
Step 40

Screw in the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 41

Lower the car and tighten the wheel fasteners in a criss-cross pattern. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 142 N·m.
Step 42

Remove the jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks.
Step 43

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 44

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Step 45

Close the bonnet.
