Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210). AUTODOC recommends:
Replace the stabiliser links on MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210) in pairs.
The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210). Take the following steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Unscrew the fasteners of the control arm plastic cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7
Remove the control arm plastic cover.
Step 8
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a combination spanner #19.
Step 11
Remove the stabilizer rod.
Step 12
Clean the mounting seats of the stabiliser link. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 13
Install a new rod, tighten the fasteners. Use a crowbar.
Step 14
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.
Step 15
Install the fastener connecting the stabiliser link to the control arm and tighten it. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20 Nm torque.
Step 16
Treat all joints of the stabiliser link. Use copper grease.
Step 17
Install the control arm plastic cover.
Step 18
Screw the fasteners of the control arm plastic cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 19
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use high-temperature ceramic grease.
Step 20
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 21
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210)
Step 22
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 23
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 nm torque.
Step 24
Remove the jacks and chocks.
