All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: air filter – Mercedes W211. Use the following procedure:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4
Unscrew the fasteners of the back section of the engine cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 5
Remove the back section of the engine cover.
Replacement: air filter – Mercedes W211. Tip from AUTODOC:
Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it.
Step 6
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Raise the engine cover, holding it on two sides simultaneously.Replacement: air filter – Mercedes W211. To avoid damaging the part when removing it, do not use excessive force.
Step 7
Release the air filter cover clips. Use a crowbar.
Step 8
Take off the filter lid.
Step 9
Remove the filter element from the filter housing.
Step 10
Cover the air intake hose with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
Step 11
Clean the air filter cover and housing.
Replacement: air filter – Mercedes W211. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Before cleaning the air filter cover and housing, cover the air duct parts, mass airflow sensor (if available), throttle valve with a clean cloth.
Step 12
Remove the microfibre towel from the air intake hose.
Step 13
Insert a new filter element into the filter housing. Make sure that the filter edge fits tight to the housing.

Check out the correct location of the filter element. Do not skew.Mercedes W211 – It's important to only use high-quality filters.During installation, make sure to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the air filter housing.
Step 14
Reinstall the air filter cover. Fasten it.
Step 15
Press the air filter cover clips into place. Use a crowbar.
Step 16
Install the engine cover and secure it.
Replacement: air filter – Mercedes W211. Professionals recommend:
When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
Step 17
Screw in the engine cover fasteners. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 18
Put the back section of the engine cover back in place.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: air filter – Mercedes W211. Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.
Step 19
Screw in the fasteners of the back section of the engine cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 20
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 21
Close the hood.
