- Replace both handbrake cables.
- All the work should be carried out with the engine switched off.
Replacement: hand brake cable – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). Take the following steps:
- Step 1
If you are going to use a jack, secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 24 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 3Raise the vehicle.Warning!If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel fasteners.Replacement: hand brake cable – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). Tip from AUTODOC experts:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fasteners. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Fully release the handbrake. - Step 7
Clean the handbrake cable equaliser. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 8
Loosen the handbrake cable adjustment nut. Use a 6 mm combination spanner. Use a 13 mm combination spanner. - Step 9
Disconnect the handbrake cable from the equaliser bar. - Step 10
Disconnect the parts securing the handbrake cable to the car body. Use a mounting lever. - Step 11
Clean the fastener that connects the handbrake cable clamp to the bracket on the car body. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 12
Unscrew the handbrake cable clamp fastener. Use a 10 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 13
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 14
Detach the handbrake cable from the car body. Use cutting pliers. - Step 15
Remove the U-clip securing the handbrake cable to the brake caliper. Use combination pliers. - Step 16
Detach the handbrake cable from the brake caliper. - Step 17
Clean the handbrake cable mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 18
Install a new handbrake cable. - Step 19
Attach the handbrake cable to the brake caliper.
