The glow plugs can get stuck over time and break apart when removed.Use a torque wrench to loosen the parts to avoid exceeding the breakaway torque specified by the car manufacturer.If you have reached the breakaway torque but the glow plugs still won't unscrew, you need to consult a professional: breakage of the parts can result in costly engine repairs.
Step 13
Remove the glow plugs. Use needle nose pliers.
Step 14
Treat the glow plugs. Use high-temperature ceramic grease.
Step 15
Install new glow plugs to their mounting seats. Use needle nose pliers.
Step 16
Tighten the glow plugs. Use the spark plug socket #10. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 20 nm torque.
AUTODOC recommends:
Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection.
Step 17
Treat the glow plug connectors. Use dielectric grease.
Step 18
Attach the glow plug wiring connectors. Use needle nose pliers.
Step 19
Clean the fuel return line. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 20
Unstop the fuel return line.
Step 21
Connect the fuel return line hose.
Step 22
Tighten the fuel hose fastener. Use a drive socket #Е11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 8 nm torque.
Step 23
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 24
Shut off the engine.
Step 25
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 26
Close the hood.
