How to change fuel filter BMW E39 Touring [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Fuel Filter for 5 Touring (E39) and other BMW models
Replacement: fuel filter – BMW E39 touring. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
Please note: all work on the car – BMW E39 touring – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Detach the fuel pressure sensor connector.
Step 4
Loosen the fastening clamps of the fuel filter pipes. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 5
Detach the tubes from the fuel filter.
AUTODOC recommends:
Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
Step 6
Unscrew the fastener of the fuel pressure sensor. Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7
Remove the fuel pressure sensor.
Step 8
Unscrew the fuel filter bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the fuel filter.
Step 10
Install a new fuel filter.
Replacement: fuel filter – BMW E39 touring. Tip from AUTODOC:
Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Attention! Use quality filters – BMW E39 touring.
Step 11
Screw in the fuel filter mounting bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Install the fuel pressure sensor.
Step 13
Screw the fastener of the fuel pressure sensor. Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14
Attach the tubes to the fuel filter.
Step 15
Tighten the fastening clamps of the fuel filter pipes. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 16
Treat the fuel pressure sensor connector. Use dielectric grease.
Step 17
Attach the fuel pressure sensor connector.
Step 18
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 19
Shut off the engine.
Step 20
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 21
Close the hood.
Replacement: fuel filter – BMW E39 touring. Tip:
To protect the environment from pollution, be sure to dispose of the used filters at special collection points.
