Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). AUTODOC recommends:

Do not reuse the bearing removed from your VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7) car.
The wheel bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All the work should be carried out with the engine switched off.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 3

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 4

Clean the axle nut. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 5

Loosen the axle nut. Use a 32 mm socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 6

Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 7

Raise the vehicle.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 8

Unscrew the wheel fasteners.

Caution!
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners.
Step 9

Remove the wheel.
Step 10

Remove the ABS sensor.
Step 11

Detach the ABS sensor wiring.
Step 12

Unscrew the axle nut. Use a 32 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Spread the brake pads apart. Use a mounting lever.
Step 14

Detach the brake hose from the suspension strut.
Step 15

Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16

Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use an 18 mm socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 17

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 18

Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting it from the brake hose to avoid opening the brake line.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal after the caliper has been removed. This may cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore resulting in the brake fluid leakage and air entering the system.
Step 19

Clean the brake disc screw. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 20

Unscrew the brake disc screw. Use a T40 Torx bit. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 21

Remove the screw.
Step 22

Remove the brake disc.
Step 23

Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 24

Unscrew the nut connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a 16 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 25

Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint separator.
Step 26

Clean the fasteners that connect the ball joint to the control arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 27

Unscrew the fasteners that connect the ball joint to the control arm. Use an 18 mm combination spanner. Use a 19 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 28

Clean the fasteners that connect the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 29

Unscrew the fasteners that connect the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 21 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 30

Remove the fastening bolts. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
Step 31

Detach the steering knuckle from the suspension arm.
Step 32

Detach the CV axle from the steering knuckle.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). AUTODOC recommends:
Make sure that the CV axle is not hanging down.
Step 33

Detach the ball joint from the control arm.
Step 34

Remove the steering knuckle together with the wheel hub.
Step 35

Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 36

Clean the steering knuckle mounting seat on the suspension strut. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 37

Clean the splines of the CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 38

Clean the ball joint mounting seat on the control arm. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 39

Press the hub out of the steering knuckle together with the inner race of the bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set and a hydraulic press.
Step 40

Press the outer bearing race together with the bearing's internals and the ABS sensor bracket out of the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set and a hydraulic press.
Step 41

Press the hub out of the inner race of the bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set. Use a bearing separator and a hydraulic press.
Step 42

Clean the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 43

Clean the wheel hub. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 44

Install a new ABS sensor bracket into the steering knuckle.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). Tip:
Check to make sure the bracket is positioned correctly.
Step 45

Press the new bearing into the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set and a hydraulic press.

AUTODOC recommendation:
When pressing on the wheel bearing, check to make sure it is positioned correctly. Avoid any misalignment.When pressing the wheel bearing in, make sure to press only on the outer race of the bearing.
Step 46

Press the wheel hub into the inner race of the bearing installed in the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set and a hydraulic press.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). Tip from AUTODOC:
When pressing the wheel hub in, check to make sure it is positioned correctly. Avoid any misalignment.When pressing the wheel hub in, make sure to press only on the inner race of the bearing.
Step 47

Install the steering knuckle assembled with the wheel hub.

Step 48

Attach the ball joint to the control arm.
Step 49

Insert the CV axle into the steering knuckle.
Step 50

Attach the steering knuckle to the suspension strut.
Step 51

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 52

Jack up the steering knuckle. Use a transmission jack or one more vehicle jack.
Step 53

Tighten the fasteners that connect the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 21 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 180 N·m.
Step 54

Tighten the fasteners that connect the ball joint to the control arm. Use an 18 mm combination spanner. Use a 19 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 85 N·m.
Step 55

Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). AUTODOC recommends:
Lower the transmission or vehicle jack smoothly without jerking it to avoid damaging the vehicle assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 56

Screw on the axle nut. Use a 32 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 57

Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
Step 58

Tighten the nut connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a 16 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 37 N·m.
Step 59

Clean the mounting seat of the brake disc. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 60

Treat the surface of the wheel hub that contacts the brake disc. Use ceramic grease.
Step 61

Install the brake disc.
Step 62

Install the brake disc screw.
Step 63

Tighten the brake disc screw. Use a T40 Torx bit. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 14 N·m.
Step 64

Install the brake caliper together with its bracket.
Step 65

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 66

Tighten the fasteners of the brake caliper bracket. Use an 18 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 100 N·m.
Step 67

Secure the brake hose to the suspension strut.
Step 68

Secure the ABS sensor wiring.
Step 69

Install the ABS sensor.
Step 70

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 71

Treat the brake disc surface that contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 72

Install the wheel.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi (J7). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fasteners.
Step 73

Screw in the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 74

Lower the car and tighten the wheel fasteners in a criss-cross pattern. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 142 N·m.
Step 75

Tighten the axle nut. Use a 32 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 280 N·m.
Step 76

Remove the jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks.
Step 77

Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.
Step 78

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 79

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Step 80

Close the bonnet.
