How to change Strut Mount on OPEL CORSA C TUTORIAL | AUTODOC
All the parts you need to replace – Strut Mount for Corsa C Hatchback (X01) and other OPEL models
Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. AUTODOC recommends:
All mounts of the front shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
Please note: all work on the car – Opel Corsa C – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Opel Corsa C
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the stabilizer rod.
Step 9
Disconnect the fastener of the ABS sensor cable from the shock absorber strut.
Step 10
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 12
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 13
Detach the bottom part of the shock strut.
Step 14
Lower the car.
Step 15
Open the bonnet.
Step 16
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 17
Remove the shock strut mount cap.
Step 18
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19
Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
AUTODOC recommends:
Opel Corsa C – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
Step 20
Remove the suspension strut.
Step 21
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.
Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
Step 22
Compress the spring.
Step 23
Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 24
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6.
Step 25
Remove the top strut mount.
Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. Tip from AUTODOC:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Step 26
Install a new strut mount.
Step 27
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use HEX No.H6. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 nm torque.
Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. Professionals recommend:
Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
Step 28
Decompress the spring.
Step 29
Remove the assembled shock strut.
Step 30
Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
AUTODOC recommends:
Opel Corsa C – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 31
Tighten the upper fastener of the shock absorber strut mount. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 32
Install the shock strut mount cap.
Step 33
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 34
Close the hood.
Step 35
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 36
Attach the bottom part of the shock strut.
Step 37
Install the fastening bolts.
Step 38
Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 80 Nm torque.+75°
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 39
Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link.
Step 40
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 41
Connect the fastener of the ABS sensor cable to the shock absorber strut.
Step 42
Treat the shock strut fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 43
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 44
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – Opel Corsa C. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 45
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Opel Corsa C
Step 46
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 47
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 48
Remove the jacks and chocks.
