How to change front suspension arm / front control arm on VW GOLF 6 (5K1) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: front lower arm – VW Golf 6. AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – VW Golf 6. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Golf 6
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Treat all joints of the arm. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – VW Golf 6. Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.Step 7Unscrew the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 8Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the car body. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 10Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #15. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 11Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Treat the fasteners of the ball joint. Use copper grease.
- Step 13Install a new arm.Replacement: front lower arm – VW Golf 6. Tip from AUTODOC experts:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 14Install the front fastener of the arm. Do not tighten it.
- Step 15Attach the ball joint to the control arm.
- Step 16Install the fasteners of the ball joint.
- Step 17Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
