Replacement: front lower arm – OPEL VIVARO Box (F7). Tip from AUTODOC experts:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right control arms.
All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.

Replacement: front lower arm – OPEL VIVARO Box (F7). Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 3

Raise the car.

Warning!
If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel fasteners.

Replacement: front lower arm – OPEL VIVARO Box (F7). AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Detach the ABS sensor wiring.
Step 7

Clean all the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Unscrew the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a 24 mm combination spanner.
Step 9

Remove the fastening nut.
Step 10

Support the steering knuckle. Use a transmission jack or an additional vehicle jack.
Step 11

Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a U-bolt with a plate. Use a mounting lever.
Step 12

Unscrew the front fastener that connects the control arm to the subframe. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 30 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 14

Unscrew the rear fastener that connects the control arm to the subframe. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 21 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 15

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 16

Remove the control arm together with the ball joint. Remove the ball joint cover. Use a mounting lever.
Step 17

Clean the control arm mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 18

Install the control arm.
Step 19

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 20

Install the ball joint cover.
Step 21

Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
Step 22

Install the fastening nut.
Step 23

Tighten the rear fastener that connects the control arm to the subframe. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 21 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 180 N·m.
Step 24

Tighten the front fastener that connects the control arm to the subframe. Use a 21 mm combination spanner. Use a 30 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 180 N·m.
Step 25

Tighten the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a 24 mm combination spanner. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 115 N·m.
Step 26

Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.

Replacement: front lower arm – OPEL VIVARO Box (F7). Tip from AUTODOC:
Lower the transmission or vehicle jack smoothly without jerking it to avoid damaging the vehicle assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 27

Secure the ABS sensor wiring.
Step 28

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 29

Treat the brake disc surface that contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 30

Install the wheel.

Caution!
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fasteners.
Step 31

Screw in the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 32

Lower the car and tighten the wheel fasteners in a criss-cross pattern. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 142 N·m.

Step 33

Remove the jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks.

After replacing the control arm, it is necessary to have the wheels aligned.
