Tools
Replacement: brake pads – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). Tools you need:
Wire brush
Brake cleaner
Copper grease
Torque wrench
HEX bit No.H7.
Anti-squeal paste
Wheel impact socket #17
Brake caliper wind back tool
Crow bar
Wheel chock
Replacement: brake pads – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). AUTODOC recommends:
  • Perform the replacement of brake pads in complete set for each axis. This provides effective braking.
  • The replacement procedure is identical for all brake pads on the same axle.
  • Please note: all work on the car – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
  1. Step 1
    Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.

    Secure the wheels with chocks.
  2. Step 3

    Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
  3. Step 4
    Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

    Unscrew the wheel bolts.
    Replacement: brake pads – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). Professionals recommend:
    To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
  4. Step 6
    Changing Brake Pads on VW Golf VII Variant (BA5, BV5) 1.2 TSI 2016 by yourself
    Remove the wheel.
  5. Step 7
    Disconnect the ABS sensor electric socket. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor plug. Remove the ABS sensor connector. Remove the connector of the brake pad wear sensor.
    Please note!
    Some cars are not equipped with the brake pad wear sensor.

    Remove the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins.
  6. Step 9
    Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use HEX No.H7.

    Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.

    Remove the brake caliper.
    AUTODOC recommends:
    Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.

    Remove the brake pads.
    Replacement: brake pads – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). Tip from AUTODOC:
    Measure the brake disc thickness. Upon reaching the wear limit the part must be replaced.
