- Replace the brake discs and pads in axle sets, regardless of their condition. This will ensure even braking.
- The procedure for replacing the brake discs and pads is identical for both sides of the same axle.
- All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.
Replacement: brake pads – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2
Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap. - Step 3
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 4
Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 19 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 5Raise the vehicle.Replacement: brake pads – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi. Professionals recommend:If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 6
Unscrew the wheel fasteners.Caution!To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners. - Step 7
Remove the wheel. - Step 8
Spread the brake pads apart. Use a mounting lever. - Step 9
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 13 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 12
Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake pads – VAUXHALL VIVARO Combi. AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting it from the brake hose to avoid opening the brake line.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal after the caliper has been removed. This may cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore resulting in the brake fluid leakage and air entering the system. - Step 13
Remove the brake pads. - Step 14
Clean the brake caliper pistons. Use a nylon brush. Use a brake cleaner. - Step 15
Retract the brake caliper pistons. Use a brake caliper wind back tool. - Step 16
Treat new brake pads in the areas where they contact the brake caliper bracket. Use anti-squeal paste. - Step 17
Install the brake pads.
