Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. AUTODOC recommends:
- Both stabilizer bushes should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left stabilizer bushes.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Unscrew the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a Phillips screwdriver. - Step 7
Remove the lower sound insulation.Please note!Some cars are not equipped with the lower sound insulation. - Step 8
Clean the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 9
Unscrew the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Remove the stabilizer bush brackets. - Step 11
Remove the stabilizer bushes. - Step 12
Install the new stabilizer bushes. - Step 13
Clean the mounting seats of the stabilizer bushes. Use WD-40 spray.
