Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. List of the tools you'll need:

                      Wire brush
                    
                      WD-40 spray
                    
                      Copper grease 
                    
                      Drive socket # 16 
                    
                      Wheel impact socket #17
                    
                      Ratchet wrench
                    
                      Torque wrench
                    
                      Phillips screwdriver
                    
                      Wheel chock

Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. AUTODOC recommends:

Both stabilizer bushes should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left stabilizer bushes.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: anti roll bar bushes – BMW E46 convertible. Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Unscrew the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 7

Remove the lower sound insulation.

Please note!
Some cars are not equipped with the lower sound insulation.
Step 8

Clean the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9

Unscrew the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Remove the stabilizer bush brackets.
Step 11

Remove the stabilizer bushes.
Step 12

Install the new stabilizer bushes.
Step 13

Clean the mounting seats of the stabilizer bushes. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14

Install the stabilizer bush brackets.
Step 15

Screw the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 28 nm torque.
Step 16

Install the lower sound insulation.
Step 17

Screw in the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 18

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 19

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. BMW E46 convertible
Step 20

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 21

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 22

Remove the jacks and chocks.
