Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Make marks on the distributor cap to indicate the installation order of the spark plug wires. - Step 4
Disconnect the spark plug wires from the distributor cap.Replacement: distributor rotor – VW JETTA II (19E, 1G2, 165). Tip from AUTODOC:Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires. - Step 5
Release the distributor cap clips. Use a crowbar. - Step 6
Remove the distributor cap.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: distributor rotor – VW JETTA II (19E, 1G2, 165). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it. - Step 7
Remove the ignition distributor rotor.Replacement: distributor rotor – VW JETTA II (19E, 1G2, 165). Professionals recommend:Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it. - Step 8
Install a new ignition distributor rotor.AUTODOC recommends:When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part. - Step 9
Install the distributor cap.AUTODOC recommends:When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
