I’m thinking about getting a VW Taigo 2022 and would love to hear from those who’ve already taken the plunge! How’s the fuel efficiency, and are there any quirks with the infotainment system? Any issues with comfort or handling on long drives? Thanks!

I recently took the plunge and got a VW Taigo 2022 and I'm really loving it so far! The fuel efficiency has been great, easily getting around 45-50 mpg on my daily commute. The infotainment system is also a breeze to use - very intuitive and responsive. The only quirk I've noticed is that the climate controls can be a bit finicky at times, sometimes taking a few tries to get the temperature just right. But overall, no major issues there.

As for comfort and handling, it's been a dream on longer drives. The seats are supportive and the ride quality is really smooth, even on less than perfect roads. The steering is nicely weighted and it feels very stable and composed, even at higher speeds. I was a bit worried about the size compared to my old car, but the Taigo is actually quite nimble and easy to maneuver in tight spaces.

Overall, I'd highly recommend the Taigo to anyone in the market for a practical, efficient, and enjoyable daily driver. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for sharing your positive experience with the Taigo, @jack.t! I'm glad to hear the fuel economy and overall drivability have been good. That's really reassuring as I've been considering making the switch from my old Golf.

One thing I'm curious about is how the infotainment system holds up over time. I've read some mixed reviews about VW's tech sometimes becoming glitchy after extended use. Have you noticed any issues there or has it been smooth sailing so far?

Also, how's the interior quality and materials? I know VW is aiming for a more premium feel with the Taigo, but curious to hear your real-world impressions.

Great questions, @Martin_Murphy! I can definitely speak to the infotainment system and interior quality based on my experience so far.

On the tech side, the infotainment in my Taigo has been rock solid. No glitches, freezes, or any other issues to report. The system is responsive, the navigation is accurate, and I've had no problems connecting my phone via wireless Android Auto. It's a big step up from the old system in my previous car.

As for the interior, I've been really impressed with the overall quality and materials. The fit and finish is excellent, with nice soft-touch surfaces throughout. The seats are comfortable and supportive, and everything feels very well-built. It definitely has a more premium vibe compared to some other cars in this segment.

The only minor quibble I have is that some of the piano black plastic trim can show fingerprints and smudges a bit more easily. But that's a pretty minor nitpick in the grand scheme of things.

Overall, I'd say the infotainment and interior have been standout features for me on the Taigo. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the thorough review, @Thomas99! I'm really impressed to hear about the solid performance of the infotainment system and the quality of the interior. That's definitely a big selling point for me.

One thing I'm curious about is the driving dynamics - how would you describe the Taigo's handling and performance, especially in more spirited driving situations? I know it's not exactly a sports car, but I'd like to get a sense of how fun it is to drive.

Also, any thoughts on the practicality and cargo space? I'll mainly be using it for commuting, but occasional weekend trips and hauling stuff around are important too.

Great questions, @connor.m! The driving dynamics of the Taigo are definitely more geared towards comfort and practicality rather than outright sportiness, but I've still found it to be quite enjoyable to drive.

In normal everyday conditions, the handling is very stable and confidence-inspiring. The steering provides a good amount of feedback and the chassis feels nicely composed, even through tighter corners. The turbocharged engine also provides a decent amount of pep for merging and passing. It's not lightning fast, but has enough punch for most situations.

That said, if you're looking to really push the Taigo hard, it does start to feel a bit soft and wallowy. The body roll increases and the brakes can start to feel a bit overwhelmed. But in fairness, that's not really what this car is designed for. It's more of a comfortable, easygoing daily driver.

In terms of practicality, the Taigo has been great. The cargo area is a nice size, with 438 liters of space with the rear seats up. Fold them down and you get over 1,000 liters - more than enough for weekend trips or moving smaller items. The rear seats are also quite spacious, so it works well for carrying passengers too.

Overall, I'd say the Taigo strikes a nice balance between engaging driving dynamics and everyday usability. It may not be the most exhilarating thing on the road, but it's more than capable of handling the demands of daily life. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the excellent follow-up, @jack.t. The driving dynamics and practicality details you provided are really helpful as I continue to evaluate the Taigo.

One final question for you - what has your ownership experience been like overall? Any notable pros or cons you'd highlight beyond what we've already discussed? I'm curious to get your holistic take on living with the Taigo day-to-day.

Overall, my ownership experience with the Taigo has been extremely positive. Beyond the driving dynamics and practicality, there are a few other pros I'd highlight:

Firstly, the build quality and reliability have been top-notch so far. I haven't experienced any issues or niggles with the car, and it feels very well-put-together. The VW reputation for durability seems to hold true.

The tech features have also been a real strong suit. In addition to the great infotainment system, I've really enjoyed things like the digital cockpit display, wireless charging, and the suite of driver assist/safety systems. Makes daily driving that much more seamless.

As for potential cons, the only real downside I've noticed is that the ride can be a tad on the firm side, especially on rougher roads. It's not uncomfortable by any means, but you do feel more road imperfections than you might in a more softly sprung vehicle.

The other potential issue, which may or may not be a dealbreaker, is the slightly higher starting price compared to some rivals. However, I do feel you get excellent value for money given the overall quality and features on offer.

Overall, I've been thoroughly impressed with the Taigo and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a practical, well-rounded compact crossover. Let me know if you have any other questions!

This has been an incredibly helpful discussion, thank you both! I feel like I have a much better sense of the VW Taigo's strengths and weaknesses now.

The solid build quality, tech features, and overall driving experience sound right up my alley. And while the firm ride and slightly higher price tag are good to keep in mind, it doesn't seem like dealbreakers by any means.

I think I'm going to go ahead and schedule a test drive of the Taigo. Appreciate you both taking the time to share your honest, real-world feedback - it's exactly what I was looking for. I'll be sure to report back once I've had a chance to try it out for myself!

Sounds like a plan, @connor.m. Test driving is key, especially for getting a feel for the ride quality and handling characteristics. I'm sure you'll come away with a good sense of whether the Taigo is the right fit.

And I echo @Martin_Murphy's sentiment - definitely share your thoughts once you've had the opportunity to properly evaluate the car. It's always valuable to get additional real-world perspectives, especially on a relatively new model like this. Wishing you the best of luck with your test drive and decision!
