    Hi all,

I’m hoping someone here will be able to tell me what might be causing the EPC light and loss of power on my VW Golf.

The EPC light has come on a couple of times but goes off again when I stop and restart the engine. Also, when I try to go above 60 miles an hour the car holds back and feels like it’s losing power but will continue fine at 60. This also comes and goes. It’ll be perfectly fine for a few days and then suddenly the problem will come back again. I’d be grateful for any advice.

I’d recommend you take your car for a diagnostic test at an independent Volkswagen specialist where they’ll check the fault codes. This problem is often caused by a defective brake light switch. A new one shouldn’t cost much more than £10 and can be fitted in a matter of minutes.
