I’m about to replace the timing chain tensioner with the engine in situ  and would like some basic advice on how to set the engine up before I remove the tensioner please or diagrams.

To replace the chain and tensioner, you only need to remove the valve cover; you don’t need anything else.
    You will  need:
    1) Timing chain
    2) Chain tensioner + gasket under it
    3) A set of hydraulic jacks
    4) Valve stem seal kit
    5) Valve cover sealant
