I have fitted a new fuel filter to my ssangyong rodius and the light on dashboard is still coming on and beeper going, why is this ?

The Rodius has a water separator warning light that signals when water has accumulated in the fuel filter, which can cause engine damage if ignored. After changing the fuel filter, you need to properly drain the water from the water separator and reset the sensor.
If the water separator is not drained correctly, or the sensor is faulty or not reset, the warning light and beeper will keep activating. Sometimes you might also need to prime the fuel system to remove any air trapped during the filter change.
The best steps are:
- Locate the water separator/drain plug on the fuel filter assembly and drain any water fully.
- Make sure the fuel filter sensor and wiring are properly connected and not damaged.
- Prime the fuel system as per the manual instructions.
- Reset the warning light using a diagnostic tool or following the manual reset procedure for your vehicle.
If unsure, it’s a good idea to get the system checked at a Ssangyong authorized service to avoid risking engine damage.
So, even though you changed the filter, the warning light is your car’s way of saying it still senses water or an issue with the sensor/system. Promptly addressing it will keep your Rodius happy and healthy!
