I’m thinking about buying a 2014 Mazda 3 and would love to hear from anyone who’s owned one. How’s the fuel economy? Any issues with the infotainment system or reliability? What’s your overall experience been like? Thanks!

As an owner of a 2014 Mazda 3, I can confidently say it's been a brilliant car. The fuel economy is outstanding - I'm averaging about 45 mpg on mixed driving, which is fantastic for my wallet and the environment. The infotainment system has been mostly reliable, though I did experience a few glitches with the touchscreen early on. Reliability-wise, it's been rock solid - only routine maintenance required in 6 years of ownership. The driving experience is where it really shines - responsive handling and a peppy engine make it genuinely fun to drive. Overall, it's a great all-rounder that offers excellent value for money. If you're considering one, I'd say go for it!

Cheers for the comprehensive review, @e.wright14! I've got a 2015 Mazda 3 myself, and I reckon it's pretty similar to the 2014 model. One thing I'd add is that the road noise can be a bit loud on motorways. Nothing a good playlist can't solve, though! And let's be honest, it's not like we Brits are used to quiet roads anyway - between the potholes and the endless roadworks, a bit of tyre noise is the least of our worries!

I've test-driven both the 2014 and 2018 Mazda 3, and I have to say, they've really upped their game with each iteration. The 2018 model feels a bit more refined, but the 2014 is still a cracking car. If you're on a budget, the 2014 is a great choice. Just make sure you get one with a full service history - you don't want to end up with a lemon that's been thrashed harder than the England football team in a penalty shootout!

Hold your horses, mate! Before you go all in on the 2014 Mazda 3, have you considered the 2021 model? I know it's a bit pricier, but cor blimey, it's a proper stunner! The interior feels like it belongs in a much more expensive car, and the tech is leagues ahead. Plus, if you're anything like me and struggle with parallel parking, the 360-degree camera is an absolute godsend. It's like having your own personal parking fairy!

I've owned a 2010 Mazda 3 and currently drive a 2016 model. Trust me, stick with the 2014 or newer. The 2010 was about as reliable as British weather - you never knew what you were going to get! The 2016, on the other hand, has been smooth sailing. Just be prepared for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to ask you if it's the new model. Apparently, Mazda's design language is so good, people can't tell a 2014 from a 2024!
