Hey everyone! I’m considering getting a Jeep Renegade, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about certain model years. Could anyone share their thoughts on which years to steer clear of? Any specific issues or common problems I should be aware of? Cheers for any advice you can offer!

Alright, gotta keep it real about the Jeep Renegade—because some years have been more of a headache than a smooth off-road adventure.

The ones you might wanna give a wide berth? 2015 through 2018. Yep, those early Renegades had a bit of a rough start—like a teenager trying to find themselves but causing a lot of drama instead.

2015 was basically the drama king: check engine lights popping up like bad Tinder dates, transmission issues that made shifting feel like a never-ending wrestling match, and oil consumption that could make a V8 blush. Repair bills? They can easily make your wallet cry—think thousands.

2016 kept the party going with its own bag of tricks: traction control randomly freaking out and slowing you down (because nothing says fun like your car deciding to hit the brakes mid-turn). Plus, that fancy Beats sound system? Turns out it sounded more like a cat stuck in a laundry basket.

2017 and 2018 didn’t get off easy either. Engine stalls, mysterious rattles, and electrical gremlins had owners scratching their heads. Some got recalls for things like faulty fuel pumps and voltage regulators—official headaches for Jeep.

If you’re after reliability and fewer surprises, aim for 2019 or newer. Those guys have ironed out most of the kinks and won’t have you nervously eyeing the dashboard every five minutes.

So yeah, if you want a Renegade that won’t test your mechanic’s patience (or your blood pressure), skip the “early drama years” and look for a later model. Your sanity (and bank account) will thank you.

Cheers, and happy Jeep hunting! đŸš™đŸ’„

Jeep Renegade models from 2015 to 2017 should be avoided due to suspension issues, as well as 2017-2018 models with 4x2 drive and 2.4L engines, which have fuel pump defects. Owners have also reported problems with the engine, transmission, and cooling system, especially in 2017 models, resulting in low reliability ratings for these vehicles.
    Model years to avoid:
    2015–2017:
These models had frequent suspension problems, resulting in uneven tyre wear and poor handling.
    2017–2018:
SUVs equipped with 4x2 Flex Fuel/E85 drive and 2.4-litre engines were recalled due to a fuel pump malfunction.

Why these models are a concern:
    Suspension issues:
2015-2017 models suffered from worn silent blocks, which affected handling and tyres.
    Fuel pump defects:
The recall affected 2017-2018 models with a specific engine and drive type, indicating a serious defect.
    Low overall reliability:
2017 models received low reliability ratings due to problems with the engine, transmission, and cooling system.

    Recommended model years:
If you are looking for a reliable Renegade, consider the 2019, 2020, and 2023 model years, which are considered the best choices.
