I’M DRIVING A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA AND NOTICED MY TYRE TREAD IS DOWN TO 2MM. HOW LONG CAN I SAFELY KEEP DRIVING ON THEM? CONSIDERING THE UK WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS, SHOULD I REPLACE THEM IMMEDIATELY OR CAN THEY LAST A BIT LONGER?

THANKS!

It is no longer safe to drive on a 2 mm tread, especially in the UK, where it often rains and the roads can be slippery.
    What is important to know:
The minimum permitted tread depth in the UK is 1.6 mm, but this is a legal minimum, not a safe threshold
At 2 mm, grip is significantly reduced, especially on wet surfaces
Braking distances increase, the risk of aquaplaning increases
    Recommendations:
Change tyres as soon as possible, especially if you plan to drive on the highway or in the rain
For confident grip, it is advisable to have a tread of at least 4 mm, especially in winter
