However, it can be tricky to see because the lever is usually attached to a small plastic or metal arm that moves the blend or flap door inside the HVAC unit. This lever is often engaged via a small clip or a slot on the motor spindle that fits onto the flapâs control arm.
From experience and repair videos for Octavia Mk2 models, here is what to check:
- When the heater flap motor is removed, the lever arm remains connected to the flap shaft or is connected via a small plastic lever on the motor itself.
- The motor's output shaft usually has a slot or keyed shape where the lever arm clips on or fits tightly.
- Inside the heater box, you should see the flap shaft that the lever moves â your replaced motorâs lever arm must engage this shaft to rotate the flap.
- If you donât see an obvious lever or arm on the old motor, sometimes the motorâs lever arm is detachable or hidden beneath a plastic cover on the motor.
- Carefully inspect the motor spindle for a plastic lever arm or clip that might have come off or stayed in the heater box.
- Also check inside the heater box where the flap motor mounts; the flap shaft should have an attachment for the motor lever.
A detailed removal and replacement video for the Octavia heater motor (similar Mk2 models, which your 2007 model belongs to) shows exactly how the motor is removed and how the lever engages the flap shaft:
- The heater flap motor has to be connected so that the lever arm moves the flap when the motor operates.
- Often this connection is a clip-on plastic arm on the motor spindle.
In summary, the lever arm is usually attached to the motor spindle and hooks onto the flap shaft inside the heater box â if you canât see it, check for a small plastic clip or separate lever arm that might have come off or stayed inside the heater box during removal.
