I’m trying to find out how to check my driving convictions from the last 5 years. I drive a 1998 Honda Civic, and I’m not sure where to start. Can anyone guide me through the process, especially if there are any specific issues I should be aware of? Thanks!

To check your driving convictions from the last 5 years in the UK, you can use the official DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) online service on GOV.UK. This service allows you to view your driving record, including any penalty points, disqualifications, and details of your licence. Here are the key steps and what you need to do:

    1. Go to the GOV.UK "View or share your driving licence information" service.
    2. You will need three pieces of information:
    - Your driving licence number (found on line 5 of your photocard licence)
    - Your National Insurance number
    - The postcode on your driving licence
    3. Once logged in, you can see your current endorsements, penalty points, and any disqualifications.
    4. You can also create a licence 'check code' to share your driving record with third parties (e.g., employers or car hire companies). This code is valid for 21 days.

    Important points:
    - The record typically shows convictions and endorsements still active on your licence.
    - Motoring offences normally stay on your driving record for either 4 or 11 years depending on the offence.
    - Convictions become 'spent' under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act but may still appear on your licence record.
    - There's no online service listing all historical convictions beyond those currently active, but you can request records via formal channels if required.

Since your car model (1998 Honda Civic) does not affect how you check your records, focus on accessing your licence details through the DVLA service. This is the straightforward and official method to confirm your driving history from the last 5 years without guesswork or unofficial sources.

If you encounter specific issues, such as not having your driving licence number or National Insurance number, GOV.UK offers guidance on recovering those as well.

In summary, use the government DVLA online portal with your licence, NI number, and postcode to check your driving convictions for the last 5 years securely and accurately.
