    I know where to drain the gearbox oil underneath the car but Where do i refill the gearbox oil as it doesn’t have a breather like many posts that have indicated the breather?

    DANGER
    Automatic gearbox fluid is toxic and irritates skin, eyes and respiratory system!
    Automatic gearbox fluid can enter into the respiratory tract and may result in death when swallowed!
    Do not swallow automatic gearbox fluid.
    Wear safety goggles, protective gloves and protective clothing.
    Heed safety notes on the automatic gearbox fluid.
    NOTE

    Use only oil types approved by the manufacturer.
    The ATF filling level increases with increasing ATF temperature.
    Incorrect ATF filling level will lead to faults with the gearbox.
    Fill ATF filling device only with ATF approved by the manufacturer.
    Required special tools

    ATF filling device
    OE (0341)

    Required times/filling quantities/torques

    Replace automatic gearbox oil. 1,00 h
    Filling quantities and specifications Gearbox Gearbox AL4, Amount to change 4,50 litres
    Oil specification ESSO LT 71141
    Tightening torques
    Self-locking screws and nuts must always be replaced. Oil control screw(s) (1) (see figure 1) Replace sealing ring(s). with an automatic gearbox, Gearbox AL4, later version 28 – 38 Nm;
    with an automatic gearbox, Gearbox AL4, earlier version 21 – 27 Nm
    Gearbox oil drain plug (2) (see figure 1) Replace a sealing ring(s). with an automatic gearbox, Gearbox AL4, later version 8 – 10 Nm;
    with an automatic gearbox, Gearbox AL4, earlier version 28 – 38 Nm;
    with a 5-speed gearbox, Gearbox MA 33 Nm
    Gearbox oil filler plug (1) (see figure 2) Replace a sealing ring(s). with an automatic gearbox, Gearbox AL4 21 – 27 Nm

     



    Replace automatic gearbox oil.

    Drain:

    Gear oil temperature ≥ 60°C
    Clean the immediate area around the components.
    Unscrew oil control screw(s). (1)
    Unscrew oil drain plug(s). (2)
    Collect drained oil.
    Observe disposal regulations!

    Replace a sealing ring(s).
    Tighten oil drain plug(s). (2)
    Tighten the oil control screw(s). (1)


    Unscrew oil filler screw(s). (1)
    Top up gearbox oil. Approx. 3 litres
    ATF filling device OE (0341)
    Replace seal(s).
    Screw down oil filler screw(s). (1)
    (see figure 2)

    Check the automatic gearbox oil level.

    Test conditions:

    Gearbox may not be in emergency operation.
    Top up gearbox oil. 0,5 litres
    Start engine and run in idle.
    Actuate brake.
    Place selector lever, while stationary, at each position for 2 to 3 seconds in each case.
    Set selector lever to position “P”.
    Air-conditioning system switched off. Electric consumers switched off.

    Read out ATF temperature using a suitable diagnostic unit. Test value : 60°C (+8°C / -2°C)
    Check ATF filling level.

    Let the engine idle.

    Unscrew oil control screw(s). (1)
    (see figure 1)
    The filling level is correct when ATF drips out of the control hole.

    Top-up:

    Switch engine off

    Screw in the oil control screw(s).
    Fill with oil 0,5 litres
    Unscrew oil control screw(s).

    Repeat tests.

    The filling level is correct when ATF drips out of the control hole.
    Screw in the oil control screw(s). (1)
    Replace a sealing ring(s).

    Switch engine off

    Installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.
