Hey everyone!

I’m thinking of getting an Audi A3 but I’ve heard some models from certain years have issues. Which years should I definitely avoid?

Any advice would be brilliant! Cheers!

The Audi A3 (8V) has "problem" years that are worth knowing.
    Which years should be avoided:
    - 2012 and first half of 2013: These are the early years of production, when problems were more common.
    - DSG DQ200 (7-speed, dry clutch): Often problems with clutch wear and mechatronics, especially on low-power versions.
    - TFSI engines (1.4 and 1.8): There could be increased oil consumption and problems with the timing chain.
    - Electronics: "Children's diseases" of multimedia and sensors.
    Which years to consider:
    - Mid-2014 - 2016: Many early problems have been fixed.
    - After restyling (since 2016): The most preferable option, most of the "sores" have been fixed, updated engines have appeared.
Regardless of the year, always do a full computer diagnostic (engine, gearbox, electronics) and check the service history. The newer the car, the better.
